Art in the Carlshütte
Art can do anything, and there is a lot that it wants to do. It wants to excite, polarise and confuse, and to make people think, but most importantly it wants to be looked at. Theodor Fontane wrote: “Standing and gazing is an art in itself. It is about seeing great things, and realising that they are great.” The Kunst in der Carlshütte (KiC) arts and cultural centre is a unique venue for this.
The impressively spacious location comprises a former iron foundry and other historic buildings in Büdelsdorf in Schleswig-Holstein. It is open to the entire spectrum of art forms and, as the home of the Nord Art exhibition, hugely popular with international artists and art lovers.
